GreenStones Accountants in Peterborough has donated £408 to the Amazon children’s ward at Peterborough District Hospital, using an innovative way to raise money. The Peterborough firm of accountants came up with an idea to encourage its customers to send their tax return information to them early and raise money for children at the same time.
 David Swann, Customer Manager of GreenStones Accountants said: “We need to make sure our customers submit their tax return information to us well in advance of the January deadline to avoid a backlog later. We came up with the idea to incentivise our customers this year by offering to donate £2.00 for each customer who returned their information by 30 September. 204 customers rose to the challenge and as a result we have raised £408. It’s great to know that this has benefited everyone involved, the Amazon Ward, our customers and us!”
David Swann’s nephew Charlie Bull had meningitis when he was just three weeks old and spent a whole month being cared for on Amazon ward. Now five years on, Charlie has made a full recovery. “When Charlie fell ill he was fortunate enough to be cared for by the wonderful staff on the Amazon Ward. GreenStones Accountants is a family centric firm with 12 members of staff and by February we will have seen the arrival of six children in under two years,” continued David, “and we wanted to donate the money to a charity that directly cares for children.”
Erica Crust, Ward Manager Paediatrics, said: “Every donation we receive makes a difference to children and their families. Greenstone has been extremely generous and innovative in the way they have raised the money. We and our patients are very grateful for the donation.”
