On 15 March at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham, in front of 374 fellow accountants from across the UK, Peterborough based GreenStones were named as the 2006/7 Midland’s Accounting Firm of The Year and runners up in the National Accounting Firm of The Year.
The Award, presented by Frank Dick and sponsored by AVN The Accountants and The National Campaign, is the only award of its kind where the winners are actually chosen by a panel of over 200 fellow accountants.
Presenting the Award, The National Campaign’s Chairman Steve Pipe said:
“GreenStones are an inspiration to every single firm of accountants in the country. They are helping their clients to grow, to create jobs and to become more successful. As a result they are redefining what businesses should expect from their accountants, and blazing a trail for other accountants to follow. They truly are an extraordinary firm, and fully deserve the recognition given to them by their peers.”
Accepting the Award, Greenstones director, Simon Chaplin said:
There are 20,000 accountancy firms in the UK so to be named as one of the most exciting and forward thinking firms in the country is something we are enormously proud of. Businesses deserve more than they have traditionally received from accountants and we are determined to give it to them.'
Their colleagues were impressed with GreenStones approach, which is not just based around measuring and accepting the numbers associated with a particular business but working to help the owners change them. Some of the things that GreenStones do that helped them win the award include running a monthly Business Builder Forum that allows local business owners to share ideas and solve their problems, offer free Business Builder Reviews to all new clients and provide fixed priced agreements for all assignments.
